However, the party would think of taking support of other parties for the post of Mayor if it goes short of majority. It could be either the Congress or the TDP. The party was friendly not only with the Congress; it had taken the support of the TDP to run the Corpporation in the past. Mr Owaisi added that if at all the party decided to form an alliance with other parties before the elections, it would consider the Praja Rajyam and the Lok Satta but not the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.

Mr Owaisi was suspended from the Assembly for a day on Monday after he gestured in anger at the Speaker as per media reports. Mr Owaisi reportedly walked up to the podium and repeatedly enacted how Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy had insulted him by asking him to sit down. Media reports say that he continued to gesticulate even after returning to his seat. Even though the Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah asked him to tender an apology, he was not willing to. Instead, anticipating a suspension, he started walking away from the House even before the resolution was moved.
