New Delhi : Following in the footsteps of Supreme Court judges, a full bench of the Delhi High Court judges Friday decided to declare their assets as well.
According to court sources, “A full court bench of the judges decided to declare their assets to the Chief Justice of Delhi in terms of the May 7, 1997, resolution. However, the modality and manner of declaration are being finalised.”
On Wednesday, apex court judges agreed to make their assets public.
The high court bench meeting that lasted for over two hours saw unanimity among the judges to declare their assets at the earliest.
“The judges passed a resolution that the details of their assets, which are already available with the office of the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court in varying formats, would be tabulated in a uniform format and placed on the high court website at the earliest,” the source added.
The apex court’s decision came within days of a Karnataka High Court judge writing a full-page opinion piece in an English daily that many high court judges favoured making their assets public.
