“The state government has been directed to transfer those officers whose stay is more than three years before Sep 30 and those officers who are posted in their parent district. A letter to this effect has been issued by the chief electoral officer,” an official spokesperson said.

He added: “These instructions cover officers like district election officers, returning officers, additional district magistrates, deputy collectors, sub-divisional magistrates, block development officers and any other officer proposed to be used for election work.”

The term of the present assembly was to end in March 2010. But now fresh elections are likely to be held in October.

Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia had dissolved the assembly Aug 21 after the state cabinet recommended its dissolution.

“The officials against whom the commission has recommended disciplinary action or who have been charged for any lapse in election related work or who were transferred under the orders of the commission may not be assigned any election related duty,” the spokesperson added.
