A police spokesman said police arrested the four women at Domail near Jhajar Kotli, about 35 km north of Jammu.

A police party had set up a check point at Domail and were checking vehicles, when a vehicle coming from Srinagar to Jammu tried to drive past. The four women in the vehicle were asked to alight but refused to do so. A check of the vehicle led to the discovery of the drug.

All the four – Kulvinder alias Sonu, Kinder Kuran, Paramjeet and Gillo – all residents of Nowashera in Punjab were arrested and the driver of the vehicle was also detained for questioning, the spokesman said.

The women had purchased the drug from Sangam area of Bijbehera, about 40 km from Srinagar and were on their way back to Punjab, where they planned to sell it to drug smugglers, the police spokesman said.

The police have registered a case and also alerted the Punjab Police about the arrest of the four women.
