Patna: Hajis from India have started to return from Saudi Arabia after performing Haj. The first batch of Hajis from Bihar arrived Patna today. The first flight carrying Haj aspirants from Bihar had set off from Patna Airport on October 20 while the last one on November 2.
This year 160,000 pilgrims from India went to Hajj. Of them, 104,000 under the Haj Committee of India and the rest were facilitated by private travel agencies. Bihar Haj Committee sent more than six thousand Haj pilgrims. The first batch of Hajis arrived at around 8:10am on Dec 3 and the last flight will reach on Dec 16 at Patna Airport.
Earlier, Home Secretary Amir Subahani and Bihar Haj Committee Chairperson Maulana Anisur Rahman Qasmi reviewed the arrangements at the Patna Airport.
Mr Subahani, after reviewing the arrangements at the Patna Airport, has also asked the airport authorities to ensure convenience of the Hajis because they would be tired after their long flight from Jeddah.
Airport Director Mr. Arvind Dubey assured that the airport was ready to give the pilgrims warm welcome and had made arrangements for their smooth passage.
He also informed that unlike previous years, the airport had arranged for mobile toilets and drinking water facility so those in need could use it immediately after coming out of the planes instead of waiting to clear the security and custom first.
