Patna : Doctors in Bihar would hold a rally Dec 18 to protest growing incidents of kidnapping and attacks on them, a medical association said Saturday.
“Frightened by the repeated attacks on doctors by anti-social elements, we have decided to protest, seeking security,” state Indian Medical Association (IMA) unit president Ramesh Prasad Singh said.
He said doctors, hospitals and private clinics were being targeted regularly by criminals but the government has failed to take any action against culprits.
Two days ago a doctor, Upendra Kumar Singh, was attacked at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district. No arrest has been made so far.
“We demand the government create a separate force to protect the doctors and hospitals,” Singh said.
Singh said the decision to hold a rally was at a joint meeting of the IMA and the Bihar State Health Services Association.
