Ranchi : Campaigning in the 14 assembly constituencies where polling will be held Saturday in the fourth phase of polls to the 81-member Jharkhand assembly ended Thursday.
Of these 14 assembly seats, 12 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and most of them are situated in areas considered to be Maoist strongholds. A total of 233 candidates are in the fray and the electorate comprises 2,462,850 voters.
The key candidates in the fourth phase are jailed ex-minister Enos Ekka fighting on the Jharkhand Party (JP) ticket from Simdega and Kolebira seats, Congress state unit chief Pradeep Balmuchu seeking re-election from Ghatshila and former deputy chief minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) nominee Sudhir Mahto from Ichgarh.
In the first three phases, voting for 51 of the 81 seats took place Nov 25, Dec 2 and Dec 8. The last phase of polling will take place Dec 18. Counting of votes will take place Dec 23.
