The insurance cover scheme has been launched in a tie-up between the Punjab police and the HDFC Bank.

In lieu of the insurance cover, HDFC Bank will get the salary accounts of over 70,000 Punjab Police personnel.

Badal said the constabulary and the Other Ranks (ORs) would be the biggest beneficiaries of the new insurance scheme.

He said that as per the scheme, HDFC Bank would have the salary accounts of all police personnel and offer insurance cover to every account holder.

They would be insured for Rs.1 lakh in the event of any kind of death without any subscription being paid by the account holder. They will further get additional insurance of Rs.2 lakh in case of accidental death, he added.
