Andhra Pradesh minister resigns for Telangana

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh’s minister for information technology Komatireddy Venkata Reddy Thursday resigned as minister and legislator in support of the demand for a separate Telangana state.

The minister told reporters that he was resigning while respecting the sentiments of the people of Telangana following the centre’s latest statement on the issue.

Venkata Reddy is the first minister to announce his resignation over the issue.

The remaining 12 ministers from Telangana region are holding talks to decide their course of action.

As many as 80 legislators from Telangana cutting across party lines have already decided to submit their resignations to protest the centre’s u-turn on granting statehood to Telangana.
