Moily and Patel in turn assured the Telangana party lawmakers that their “feelings for Telangana” would be conveyed to party president Sonia Gandhi.

This was stated by senior Congress leader from Telangana and Rajya Sabha MP V. Hanumantha Rao.

Besides Rao, Madhu Goud Yaskhi, MP, also accompanied the ministers for the meeting.

“We have told Patel and Moily that something should be done for Telangana immediately, otherwise the movement will spread,” Rao told IANS.

He said the ministers, who arrived in the national capital Sunday to mount pressure on the central government on the Telangana issue, have held a series of meeting with top Congress leaders including Pranab Mukherjee and Congress general secretary K. Keshav Rao, who belongs to the region.

“The (party) high command is our leader,” Rao said, expressing the faith the lawmakers from the region reposed in Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

“She (Sonia) knows about our feeling for Telangana. But unfortunately, Telangana was not given,” Rao said.

On Sunday, Andhra Pradesh Minister Geeta Reddy told reporters that union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has promised “some good news” on Telangana while requesting the ministers to withdraw their resignations.

“Pranab Mukherjee asked us to withdraw our resignations and assured us that there will be good news on Telangana in the near future,” Geeta Reddy had said.
