George Town (Malaysia) : Asked by doctors to choose between his wife and their unborn child, Malaysian Indian travel agent M. Rajendran turned to Lord Murugan for divine intervention.
It worked and both survived, despite complications caused during delivery.
“I didn’t know what to do when I was told to choose between saving the life of my wife or my baby. I could only turn to Murugan at that difficult moment,” The Star Online Thursday quoted the 38-year-old as saying.
“I made a vow to pull a mini chariot for Thaipusam if both of them lived,” he said. Thaipusam festival is dedicated to Lord Murugan.
To fulfil his vow, Rajendran will pull a 4.8m high by 4.8m long chariot this weekend.
His aides, R. Muralitharan, 22, and M. Baskaran, 32, will also chip in. Rajendran says he took his cue and inspiration from the two.
Muralitharan had made a vow to pull a mini chariot for two years hoping his father, an epileptic, got better. Baskaran is pulling the chariot hoping that his three-year-old mute daughter will speak.
