“The behaviour of certain European countries toward terrorism is politically motivated,” Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mahdi Safari said Wednesday after summoning the EU ambassadors to protest against the decision.

The EU had removed the MKO from its terror list Jan 26.

Safari described the EU’s approach toward terrorism as “hypocritical” and “unacceptable” and said that some European countries were interacting with the terrorists to achieve their “illegitimate and temporary purposes”.

He said that EU will be responsible for the consequences of its decision.

Safari added that terrorists were trying to destabilise the region and any cooperation with these groups would help give rise to regional insecurity.
