Israeli minister says Palestinian Jihad activist was planning attack on Israel

RAMALLAH : Israeli Minister of Defense Ehud Barak claimed on Thursday that the assassination of Alaa’ Abu Rab, a Palestinian member from Islamic Jihad group was because he “was planning on attacking Israel during the upcoming election.” Israeli radio quoted Barak as saying that “Abu Rab was planning to carry out an operation inside Israel,” adding that there was an “explosive belt found in his residence.” Earlier in the day, the Israeli military shot the 23-year old activist in the head and heart before surrounding his house in city of Galbadia next to northern city of Jenin.
