A.S. Gill is new CRPF chief

New Delhi : The home ministry Thursday named A.S. Gill as the new director general of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and P. Mukherjee as the chief of the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D).

Gill, a 1972 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, will replace V.K. Joshi, the current chief of the world’s largest paramilitary force, who retires Feb 28.

Mukherjee is a 1973 batch IPS officer.

Meanwhile R.K. Bhatia, a 1972 batch IPS officer, presently additional director general of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), has been appointed as the director general of the National Disaster Response Force & Civil Defence (NDRF&CD).
