New Delhi : India Saturday asked Pakistan to honour its commitments on prosecuting the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks even as reports said the results of Islamabad’s probe into the mayhem would be handed over to Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani later in the day. “Everyone knows which organisations were involved (in the Mumbai carnage). It is for Pakistan to honour its commitments (to take action against the perpetrators),” Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma told reporters.
“As a nation state, Pakistan must meet its obligations under international law. Obfuscating will only hits its already low credibility,” Sharma added.
The comments in the wake of reports from Islamabad that Pakistan’s law and interior ministries had vetted the results of the investigations into the Nov 26-29 Mumbai attacks that killed over 170 people, including 26 foreigners, and injured over 300.
This document would now be sent to the prime minister, who is likely to hand it over to Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Satyabrata Pal, the reports said.
India has blamed the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group for the Mumbai carnage and Jan 5 given Pakistan a detailed dossier of the involvement in elements from that country in the attacks.
