By Prensa Latina,

Gaza : Israel bombed underground tunnels along the southern Gaza-Egypt border, a new violation of the weak unilaterally-announced ceasefire, while a lasting truce with Hamas was expected to be announced Saturday.

The Israeli air force last night launched several missiles against at least four tunnels in the southern locality of Rafah, through which Tel Aviv believes arms are smuggled for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other groups.

An Israeli spokesperson and Palestinian security forces in Gaza pointed out the attacks were intense in open areas near Rafah and the passages, leaving severe damage but no victims.

Israel affirmed to have destroyed an arms dump, but witnesses stated there were houses near the underground corridors, which locals use to get supplies that run short after 19 months of blockade.

Israel justified the attacks, alleging it was a reaction to the launching of two rockets yesterday by Islamic groups, which hit its southern territory causing no victims.
