Speaking at the 45th Security Conference in Munich, which began last Friday, Jones said that it was important to overcome challenges in Afghanistan, indicating that ensuring security in Afghanistan was an international responsibility.

The US would be listening carefully to any international suggestion on Afghanistan and would take serious measures to implement any procedure in favor of the world community, stated Jones, adding that the world was facing a different kind of challenges in the current century.
He affirmed that some political mistakes had occurred when addressing the security challenges in Afghanistan.

For his part, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said that he would be working with the moderate members of the Taleban movements to achieve peace in the country.

However, Karzai still stressed that the government would not tolerate any terrorist acts in Afghanistan. Karzai also blamed some international forces of creating fear amongst Afghans, noting that such acts lead to less support of international peace efforts there.

There are some improvements in Afghanistan and hopefully the world would continue to support the people there for the sake of peace in the region, said Karzai. (end) sh.gta KUNA 081829 Feb 09NNNN
