Apex court judge quits hearing on Bangalore-Mysore expressway

By IANS,

New Delhi : Justice Arijit Pasayat of the Supreme Court Monday quit hearing a lawsuit on implementation of prestigious Bangalore-Mysore expressway in Karnataka. He abandoned the hearing on a plea by former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda, who is one of the parties in the matter and is opposing the implementation of the project.

The Supreme Court had last week criticised Gowda for trying to influence judges by sending them booklets alleging corruption in the Rs.75 billion Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project.

Pasayat had expressed displeasure while hearing a plea by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE), the promoter of the project. The plea seeks directions from the Supreme Court on scrapping a Karnataka High Court order to the state ombudsman to probe Gowda’s allegation against NICE.
