By RINA,
Bhatkal: All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has accused the CBI of causing unnecessary delay in the Babri Mosque demolition case.
After a meeting of the Board here General Secretary of the Board Mr. Abdur Raheem Qureshi told the media persons, “The Board feels that CBI deliberately prevents the witnesses from appearing in the courts”. He also said that the Board had asked the Liberhan Commission to explain as to why it took so much time in submitting is report regarding the demolition of Bari Mosque even after the directions from the Court in this effect. “Even after sixteen years of the demolition of the Babri Mosque the Liberhan Commission has not submitted even the interim report”.
As regards to the Abolition of Zamindari Bill passed by the Uttar Pradesh Bill Assembly last years as well as the Amendments carried out in the Land Reform 1950 Mr. Qureshi revealed, “The Board has decided to vehemently oppose them as they affect the Inheritance Law of Islam”.
Mr. Qureshi further added that the Board is against the compulsory registration of marriages because this is practically impossible especially in rural areas. “The reason behind this opposition is that the rural people will have to run from pillar to post to get the registration done. We oppose it not only on the behalf of the Muslims but on behalf of all of the citizens of this country”. The Board also was unhappy over the wrong interpretation of the Ahkam of Islamic Shari’ah. Mr. Qureshi was of the view that there is a well defined system in place of Nikah in Islam, therefore, Marriage Certificate in itself is sufficient and should be taken as registration of marriage.
Replying to question about the proposed Central Madrasa Board Mr. Qureshi said, “The Board is totally opposed to it”. He pointed out, “This will pave the way for direct interference in our religious matters. Hence, the freedom of religion and other such liberties as guaranteed by our constitution will be threatened”. He also informed that a delegation of the Board will meet the Prime Minster and other concerned officials to register the protest regarding the proposed Central Madrasa Board.
