We will watch what Pakistan does on ending terror: India

By NNN-PTI,

New Delhi/Islamabad : India on Friday termed Pakistan’s response to Mumbai dossier as a “positive development” but made it clear that it will watch next steps to be taken by Islamabad towards ending cross-border as the neighbour had to choose what kind of relationship it wants.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee told Parliament that “substantial gains” in normalisation process achieved over the last five years are at “grave risk” and much of the future of ties will depend on what actions Islamabad takes to take the Mumbai case to its logical end.

He said the dialogue process is premised on the commitments given by Pakistan that territories under its control would not be used for terrorism against India in any manner and that New Delhi expects Islamabad to fulfill those assurances.

Pakistan, on the other hand, suggested there were “persons and entities” in India who were “responsible for acts of commission and omission” in connection with Mumbai attacks and that they should be “exposed”.

A day after giving its much-awaited response to the Indian dossier of evidence on Mumbai attacks, Islamabad said New Delhi should “come clean on the multiple facets of the Mumbai tragedy” even as it believed that the issue of attacks is getting mired in India’s domestic politics.
