New Delhi: In the latest incident that shows Hindutva extremists in Karnataka have no fear of law and police, two Muslim teenage associates of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) were beaten up by a mob in Puttur town near Mangalore for pasting posters of an anti-violence program.
It was around 9:30 pm on Tuesday when the SIO youths were pasting posters about a protest program that SIO is going to hold against rising violence against students and youths in the state. All of a sudden a mob of 30-35 people appeared on the scene and mercilessly beat up the youngsters aged 17 and 15. One got wounds in his eye and other on the ear. They were rushed to hospital, Muhammad Shaukat, Karnataka SIO president, told TwoCircles.net giving details about the incident.
State SIO is going to hold the protest rally titled “Fight the silence; stop the violence” on February 28. The students were pasting posters about that program. Talking from the hospital where the youths are being treated, Shaukat said SIO delegation will meet senior Police officers including IG and DIG and lodge complaint because the local police have not registered a case.
“They have not yet arrested the culprits, saying that they are unknown,” said SIO president.
