Disclosing this in Dhaka, a close aide of Hasina told APP that Hasina greatly values personal friendship she had forged with Benazir Bhutto during the latter’s life-time.

It may be recalled here that Pakistan’s president Asif Ali Zardari and prime minister Yousuf Raja Gilani greeted the Awami League president, Sheikh Hasina, for the Awami League-led alliance’s massive victory on December 29 general election.

Pakistani high commissioner in Dhaka, Alamgir Babar, went to Sudha Sadan residence of Hasina to convey his president’s and prime minister’s greetings to her.

Alamgir Babar told reporters that during the meeting with Hasina he had shared views on various bilateral issues.

He hoped that the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan would be strengthened further in the days to come.

Former ambassador Mohammad Zamir, Hasina’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana and deputy press secretary to Hasina, Mahbubul Huq Shakil were present on the occasion.
