Ghaziabad begins rationing fuel to tide over crisis

Ghaziabad : The Ghaziabad district administration has decided to ration petrol and diesel in the wake of a nationwide strike by public sector oil companies, an official said late Thursday.

The district magistrate, in a hurriedly called meeting, said HP Petroleum Ltd retail outlets would be open – seven in the urban areas and 13 in rural area to feed the demand.

Two wheeler owners can purchase Rs.200 petrol, car owners Rs.700, trucks on their long route can get 300 litre diesel, local trucks can get 100 litres and tractors can get 200 litre diesel, District Magistrate Deepak Agrawal said. He has asked residents not to store petrol or diesel and hoped the crisis would be solved within two to three days.
