Haniya, in a TV address Monday, said Hamas would cooperate with any initiative which would lead to halting bloodshed and the opening of border crossings to allow entry of humanitarian and medical supplies.

Haniya said Gaza would not collapse and would emerge victorious despite devastation caused by the Israeli onslaught.

Despite the Israeli killing, the destruction of houses, uprooting of trees and bloodbath, he said, victory was nearing.

The UN Security Council (UNSC) has adopted resolution 1860 calling for an immediate ceasefire. But Israel and Hamas refused to abide by the resolution.

Representatives of Hamas are in Cairo to discuss an Egyptian ceasefire initaitive and opening of border crossings.
