Gaza : As the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip entered the 17th day on Monday, five Palestinians, including a children and two women, were killed in air raids on different areas in the northern districts of the Strip, bringing the death toll so far to 905.
Witnesses said the five Palestinians were killed in an air raid on the Zaitoun district, eastern Gaza City, as well as on the Jabaliya camp, northern Gaza.
Meanwhile, Israeli planes targeted a house in Jabaliya, killing a man, his wife and child, and wounding several others. Another man and his wife were killed in a strike on Zaitoun district.
Ambulances rushed to the scene and evacuated the dead and wounded to hospital.
Medical sources at the Kamal Adwan Hospital said three Palestinians were brought in dead, and another five were admitted for medium and light wounds.
Director of the Health Ministry’s Emergency and Ambulance Department, Muawiya Hasanain said the death toll so far has reached 905, with more than 4,000 wounded, of which more than half were women and children.
He said that 41 Palestinians were killed on Sunday alone.
Israeli tanks continued to fire at houses in the Gaza City, and witnesses reported heavy clashes in eastern and southern Gaza City, eastern Jabaliya, and northern Gaza Strip.
Israeli planes fired phosphorus bombs at houses in Zaitoun and Jabaliya, burning the building, but there were no reports of casualties.
F-16s also opened fire at the home of the elderly and several houses in northern Gaza, while a tank launched a shell at the Mohammad Al-Durra Hospital in the Tufah district without causing casualties.
Witnesses said Israeli forces tried to execute an incursion into the eastern Khazaa town, east of Khan Younes, but was faced with heavy resistance.
The Israeli planes were also reported to have targeted the border strip between Gaza and Egypt, as people rushed to evacuate their houses.
Meanwhile, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad, claimed responsibility for targeting the southern Israeli settlement of Nir Oz with two “Quds” rockets. The Israeli side confirmed this.
Both Al-Quds Brigades and the Palestinian Eagles Brigades claimed joint responsibility for attacking a gathering of Israeli troops in eastern Absan, east of Khan Younes, with three mortar shells.
As for the Ezzidin Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, it said it fired a Grad missile at the Kiryat Gat.
