The woman had come alone from Yamunanagar in Haryana, around 120 km from here. She arrived in the afternoon, sat outside the police headquarters and insisted on meeting Director General of Police (DGP) Ranjeev Dalal.

She threw stones at anyone who tried to go near her and sat through the very cold night by just wrapping a thin blanket around herself.

“In 2002, I went to the office of the Superintendent of Police M.S. Ahlawat to file a complaint against my in-laws in Yamunanagar. The officer took undue advantage of my suffering and molested me in his office. Now he has become inspector general and is issuing life threats to me and my family,” the woman told media persons Tuesday.

The Haryana police stationed two women constables and a police control room vehicle to keep an eye on the woman Monday night.

“She could not meet the DGP Monday because of a holiday, but we will try to arrange a meeting with the officer today (Tuesday),” said a spokesperson of Haryana Police.

On June 9 last year, a rape victim from Rohtak had committed suicide at the office of the DGP.
