New Delhi : In a clear message to Pakistan, Britain said Tuesday that the Laskhar-e-Taiba militant terror group was responsible for the Mumbai carnage and it was for Islamabad to take action against it.
“As for the links back to Pakistan, those are clear,” visiting British Foreign Secretary David Milliband said at a joint press conference here with his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee.
He was responding to a question on whether India had furnished “credible and actionable evidence” on the involvement of elements from Pakistan in the Nov 26-29 attacks that claimed more than 170 lives, including those of 26 foreigners.
“I do not believe that the attacks were directed by the state. It is important to say that. What is also important is the response of the Pakistani government to the LeT,” Milliband added
“It is clear that the Pakistani apparatus have the fundamental responsibility to tackle the roots of this organisation and to develop new strategies for doing so,” Milliband maintained.
