New Delhi : Delhi Police Tuesday filed another charge sheet in one of the five serial bombings in the national capital Dec 13 that left 26 people dead.
The charge sheet accused suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists Mohammed Sajid, who was killed in the Dec 19 Batla House shootout in south Delhi, and Zeeshan Ahmed of planting an improvised explosive device at Barakhamba Road in the Connaught Place, killing at least three people.
Zeeshan is in the custody of the Ahmedabad police.
Filing the charges in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Bansal, the police also named Mohammed Saif, Zia-ur-Rehman, Saquib Nissar, Mohammed Shakeel, Quamuddin and Mohammed Sadiq Sheikh in the bombing.
The charges were filed under the Indian Penal Code for murder, attempt to murder and waging war against the country.
On Sep 13, a bomb hidden in a dustbin on the footpath near the Metro station in Barkhamba Road went off around 6.35 p.m. On the same fateful day, five blasts ripped through the capital – two in Connaught Place, one in Karol Bagh and two in Greater Kailash-I market.
According to the police, a total of 28 accused were involved in the Sep 13 serial blasts in Delhi. Of them, 16 are in police custody at different places while 12 are absconding.
Police also submitted the list of 78 witnesses to nail the accused.
The court put the charge sheet for consideration Jan 21 and issued warrant against six accused, who are in the custody of the Ahmedabad police for their alleged role in the serial blasts in that Gujarat city.
The police told the court that forensic reports of seized laptop of Atif Ameen, who was also killed in the Batla House shootout, mobile phones and other documents were yet to be received.
Delhi Police had last month filed a charge sheet against five suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists for the Sep 13 blasts.
