Brisbane : Michael Hussey and Cameron White propelled Australia to a six-wicket victory over South Africa in the second Twenty20 international at the Gabba here Tuesday.
South Africa, who chose to bat, scored 157 with Jean Paul Duminy hitting 69 off 41 balls.
Australia were four for 92 before Hussey (53 not out off 33) and White (40 not out off 18) pulled the team out of danger with an unbeaten 69-run stand as the hosts recorded their second consecutive T20 win.
With 36 required from 24 balls, White blasted four consecutive boundaries off Wayne Parnell to draw Australia near and then hit Morne Morkel for a four and six to complete the run chase with seven balls to spare.
Electing to bat, South Africa were reduced to three for 41 before Duminy led the recovery.
Duminy, who had been the find of the tour for South Africa, once again set the pace of the game in front of a packed stadium.
The youngster stood tall while his teammates tumbled around him. He got a let-off when dropped by a diving Shaun Tait on 50.
Mark Boucher added 19 before being caught by Shaun Tait off James Hopes (2-29) , while Albie Morkel (19) was dismissed by David Hussey.
Duminy remained unbeaten, stroking seven fours and two sixes in 41 balls.
Australia’s new sensation David Warner, who rose to limelight in the first T20 match with an attacking 89 off 43 balls, was bowled by Dale Steyn for 7.
The hosts soon lost Shaun Marsh (15) before Ricky Ponting (38) and Hussey stitched 61 runs.
After Ponting was run out, Hussey and White shifted gears as the match reached run-a-ball equation.
