Tehran : US ‘nuclear gift’ to Saudi Arabia concurrent with the Zionist regime’s genocide in Gaza reveals one of the main reasons for the country’s silence against the Israeli crimes against humanity, said an analysis with IRNA’s Research and News Studies Office.
Saudi’s sobering silence against the Israeli war crimes in Gaza prompted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to send a letter to King Abdullah, calling for a clear stance vis-à-vis the massacre in Gaza.
What was ignored in the past three weeks by the western and even regional media was signing an agreement on nuclear cooperation between the US and Saudi Arabia.
Inking the deal is significant because the US continues with its double-standard policy on nuclear energy. On the one hand, it calls for suspension of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and it signs long-term nuclear agreements with its allies in the Middle East, on the other.
This is while, the American newspaper ‘Wall Street Journal’ has announced the US’ plans to sign a nuclear agreement with UAE in the coming weeks. It also pointed out that White House intends to use as a model for promoting peaceful nuclear energy in the region.
Washington is also working on similar deals with Jordan, Egypt and Bahrain.
US’ hostile policy vis-à-vis Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and signing nuclear accords with the Persian Gulf littoral states is a clear proof for its double-standard policy.
Observes maintain that one of the main objectives behind the US political pressures on Iran and fueling the increasing concerns about Iran’s nuclear program is to earn huge profits.
The US sells arms worth tens of billion dollars to the Arab countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, on the one hand, and inks lucrative deals with some of the countries, on the other.
Bush administration had planned to sign nuclear cooperation document with UAE in November but the latter postponed it due to Obama’s unclear stances and the possibility of Congress negative attitude towards the issue.
