Though she has been political active for some years she first time jumped into the electoral politics when she decided to contest Zilla Parishad elections last month. Sabia has been a member of a regional party Bhari Bahujan Mahasangh for last five years, but as a candidate of the party she participated in the elections only in November 2008 and in her first attempt she attained success.

“My husband Muhammad Naseem Saudagar has been in the party for 10-15 years but I have joined it only five years back. By the grace of Allah I stood in the Zilla Parishad election for the first time and succeeded,” Sabia told TwoCircles.net.

Since she belongs to a poor family doing a business of selling bangles she knows the sufferings of people, therefore she wants to give more attention to the economic uplift of the poor sections of the society.

She defeated her rival of Shiv Sena in the election held for the presidency of the Zilla Parishad. She secured 27 votes out of total 45 while her rival Gaytri Kambe got only 18.
