Sonia wishes speedy recovery to PM

Rae Bareli (Uttar Pradesh) : Congress chief Sonia Gandhi Tuesday wished Prime Minister Manmohan Singh speedy recovery after a heart surgery.

“As you all know, he underwent a bypass surgery. I, on behalf of every Indian, wish him a speedy recovery and hope he resumes work soon,” Gandhi said at a function after inaugurating a rail coach factory in Lalganj locality of Rae Bareli, her constituency.

She told the gathering that the prime minister was recovering fast.

Manmohan Singh underwent a heart bypass surgery at the New Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Saturday and has been recuperating there.

United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Gandhi was accompanied by Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi during the visit.

Sonia Gandhi assured people petrol and diesel prices would be cut further.

“The UPA government has also announced various financial packages for industries to help them fight the global recession. A further price cut in petrol and diesel could come soon to fight inflation,” said Sonia Gandhi.
