Podiyamma Varghese, who broke down while talking to reporters at her home near here, said her son has been awarded several medals for his excellent performance in his job.

“My husband has gone to Mumbai with all the certificates my son has got for his service. We will seek legal recourse and we are confident that the truth will come out,” she said.

The Mumbai Anti Terror Squad (ATS) Jan 25 arrested Mohan, a 1995 batch IPS officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre, from a Mumbai suburb.

While Mohan’s parents are convinced that he was trapped, the ATS alleges that some of the arrested officer’s colleagues were also involved. A court in Mumbai Friday extended the police custody of the officer.

“I do not know if my son has enemies but he has been trapped and maybe his own colleagues might be behind it. He had come here on Jan 11. He was posted in Kochi after he got a transfer early this month from North India,” added Podiyamma.
