Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Wednesday issued an alert to her officials to take all possible security measures to prevent any kind of violence as a fallout of the publication of the Babri Masjid demolition probe report.
Though the Liberhan Commission report was yet to be made public, it is feared that its contents could spark off trouble in communally sensitive pockets across different parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh.
It was to ward off any such trouble that Mayawati directed her key officials to maintain a strict vigil across the state’s 70 districts.
“No laxity of any kind would be tolerated in dealing with any law and order situation that might arise as a consequence of publication of the contents of the Liberhan Commission report,” said a statement from the chief minister.
It streses on a lot of preventive measures as well as police preparedness for any eventuality on account of possible rise in communal tempers in certains parts of the state.
The press release, believed to have been personally drafted by the chief minister, is all about her apprehensions about a possible communal flare-up on account of the commission report’s publication.
Mayawati is however insisting that the contents of the report be made public without any delay.
