Rawalpindi : At least 11 militants, including a Taliban commander, were killed in fighting with the security forces in northwest Pakistan, officials said Friday.
The militants were killed during a search operation by the security forces in the Swat and Dir regions in the past 24 hours to Friday evening.
A number of arms and communication gadgets were seized from various places in the operation, Pakistan’s Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) office said in a statement.
Taliban commander Naeemullah was among the 11 militants killed in the operation, and several other militants were captured, Geo TV reported.
In the Zara Khella area, the security forces recovered 16 rifles, improvised devices (IEDs), pistols and ammunitions of various calibers, among others, the statement said.
The security forces have also conducted raids in several other areas including Rangeela, Dadhra, Gokdara, and Tandodag.
A soldier was injured in the operation.
