Raipur : In a rare expression of consensus, Chhattisgarh’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition Congress party MPs have agreed to raise in parliament issues related to the state’s development.
For the first time since the state came into existence in November 2000, MPs cutting across party lines attended a dinner hosted by Chief Minister Raman Singh in New Delhi Monday, BJP sources said.
The MPs agreed to Raman Singh’s suggestion that all parliamentarians from Chhattisgarh need to work together to draw the central government’s attention towards the state’s economic, health and infrastructure development issues, especially those related to tribals and backward sections of society.
The dinner meet was attended by the BJP’s Lok Sabha members Dilip Singh Judeo, Ramesh Bais, Saroj Pandey, Chandulal Sahu, Kamla Patel, Sohan Potai, Murarilal Singh, Vishnudeo Sai and Madhusudan Yadav besides the party’s Rajya Sabha members Shiv Pratap Singh and Gopal Vyas.
The Congress’ lone Lok Sabha MP from the state Charandas Mahant and Rajya Sabha member Motilal Vora also attended the meet.
