Gaddafi’s tent may have safest bed during G8-G5 summit

L’Aquila (Italy) : The Italian media seems to be enjoying the “eccentricities” of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. There has been talk in the media that Gaddafi, who is coming for one of the meetings at the G8-G5 summit, will sleep in his luxury tent in Coppito near here.

Given the earthquake scare in this region, after a major earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale devastated most of this town this April, other heads of government may not mind having a tent to sleep in either. They have been housed in the campus of a police training institute where the buildings have been spruced up and converted into hotels.

Italian officials have admitted that given the tremors being felt in the area in recent days, sleeping in a tent actually was a “safer” idea.

Gaddafi has promised to donate his tent to residents of the earthquake-affected city when he leaves.
