Mumbai Urdu medium SSC toppers felicitated by Qaumi Majlis

Mumbai: The Qaumi Majlis-e-Shura (QMS) organized a program at Anjuman-e-Islam school in Mumbai yesterday to encourage the students who secured distinction marks in their respective schools.

On the occasion, 120 students from 40 different Urdu medium schools of Mumbai and its suburbs were given away certificates, trophies, gift bags and some cash amount by QMS. Muhammad Munef Iqbal Ahmad of St Mary High School Majgaon, a student who with 92.31% marks emerged topper among the Muslim students in convent English schools, was also conferred with special award.

Alia Muhammad Iqbal Choonawal and Shaikh Muhammad Samin both from Madani High School Jogeshwari and Sarkhot Shafee Ibrahim from Anjuman-e-Islam Allana High School got 1st, 2nd and 3rd rank among the all 40 school students while securing 95.53%, 94.67% and 94.61% marks respectively. The trio was given cash award of Rs 5,000, 3,000 and 2,000.

Farid Khan, the general secretary of QMS said addressing the students, ‘You are the answer to Rahul Bajaj suspicion.’ Khan told that some days ago Bajaj had opposed the Sachar Committee proposal about the Equal Opportunity Commission saying, ‘How can we get high profile people from minority communities?’

Encouraging the students for higher education, the deputy president of QMS Mufti Saleem Akhtar said, ‘Adam possessed superiority to angels due to his knowledge. This award too has value but the real award is that “you enable yourself for the leadership of the community.’

QMS had called many professional as role models for the students who gave valuable suggestion for their education ahead. ‘Improve until you change people’s perception towards you but avoid crap tendency and don’t forget the ladder reached you to success,’ admonished anthropologist Dr. Shehla Shaikh. ‘The more one gets the bigger responsibility comes to them,’ said Rukhshida Sayyid, a psychologist.
