New Delhi: In a signed statement about 100 members of the AMU Teaching Staff Association have expressed regret over constitution of a fact finding committee by the HRD Ministry to enquire into allegations against Vice Chancellor Prof P K Abdul Azis and other top office bearers.
“The reported fact finding committee constituted by the MHRD is an effort to denigrate the university, office of the Vice-Chancellor and a slur on the university. We univocally regret this move,” the members said on July 27. They also expressed concern that this development will lead to an impediement to the rapid progress being made by the university in the recent past.
They also expressed concern over the move of the General Body of the teachers’ body to single out the VC for a personal attack.
“We the undersigned members of the AMU Teaching Staff Association are deeply concerned that at the meeting of the General Body today (27.7.2009), a resolution is being entertained by the office bearers that singles out the Vice-Chancellor for a personal attack,” they said in the statement.
The teachers who have signed the statement include: Mohd Zubair Khan, Shireen Moosvi, Seemin Hasan, Syed Abrar Hasan and Abdul Waheed.
However, in another statement on July 29, the VC himself has said that he is ready to give full support to the fact finding committee. He has urged the students, teachers and other staff to help the administration to run the university as usual and let the committee do their work.
