The agreement is designed to strengthen the cooperation between the two parties to combat illegal immigration, said the ministers in a statement.

“To this end, it establishes, on the basis of reciprocity, procedures for the identification and return of persons who do not, or no longer, fulfil the conditions for entry into, presence in, or residence on the territories of Pakistan or one of the member states of the European Union,” it said.

The agreement stipulates that the Requested State shall, as necessary and without delay, issue the person whose readmission has been accepted with the travel document required for his or her readmission, which shall be valid for at least six months.

Menawhile, the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove is expected to visit India and Afghanistan.

He reported to the ministers on Thursday on his recent visits to Turkey, Pakistan and Yemen and his planned visits to Afghanistan, India and North Africa, noted the statement without giving any details.
