Kathmandu : A businessman from Gorakhpur town in India was killed in southern Nepal allegedly after a dispute over money with his own Indian partners, police said.
Zakir Mussalman was gunned down Saturday night by an armed group in Manpura village in Kapilavastu district, the birthplace of the Buddha.
He was heading for Nawalparasi district on a motorcycle. He was accompanied by two men from Gorakhpur, Brijesh Patel and Santosh Singh. While Patel, who was injured in the attack, was arrested by police, Singh managed to flee.
On interrogating Patel, they found his activities and statements suspicious. He is suspected to have engineered Mussalman’s killing after a dispute over money.
Mussalman is the second Indian businessman to have been killed in Nepal since last month.
In May, a 32-year-old trader, Vishal Jain, from Agra city was abducted by a gang and murdered. Jain’s body was found in a forest in remote Kanchanpur district in the far west. His killers are yet to be arrested.
