New Delhi : A trader was shot at and robbed of Rs. 2.5 million by four assailants in the capital, police said Friday.
Vinay Goel, a Tata Indicom distributor, was returning home with the cash in his car when the incident took place at Peeragarhi intersection in Paschim Vihar area in west Delhi around 10:45 p.m. Thursday, a police officer said.
“As his car stopped at a red light in the area, four men got down from another car and asked the driver to roll down the window. As Goel did so, the assailants fired at him, injuring him and escaped with the bag carrying cash,” DCP (west) Sharad Aggarwal told IANS.
Goel, who suffered two bullet injuries, was immediately rushed to the hospital where his condition was stated to be critical, Aggarwal said.
Arun Goel, Goel’s brother, said they suspected somebody had tipped the assailants about the cash he was carrying.
A case has been registered and police are investigating the matter.
