Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Monday faced the ire of his Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) legislators, as also of those from other ruling Left Front (LF) partners, who accused the administration of failing to prevent the attacks on them by opposition party workers since the Lok Sabha polls.
“We are being attacked though we are in the government. The administration does not seem to exist,” chief whip Mohammed Masiha told reporters after the meetings of the LF legislature party and the combine’s floor coordination.
The legislators referred to the attacks by the opposition Congress and Trinamool Congress and said several party offices of CPI-M and residences of its leaders had been razed to the ground.
Masiha said Bhattacharjee listened to the views articulated by the legislators and assured them their complaints would be followed up. “We are taking steps to contain the violence,” the chief whip quoted Bhattacharjee as saying.
Masiha said Bhattacharjee laid stress on organising the masses against those perpetrating the violence.
