New Delhi : Delhi Police Monday filed in a court here a 620-page charge sheet in the TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan murder case, claiming to have strong evidence against five accused in the sensational killing that shocked the national capital last September.
Police named Ajay Sethi, Ravi Kapoor, Amit Kumar Shukla, Baljit Malik and Ajay Kumar as the murder accused in the charge sheet filed in the court of Deputy Metropolitan Magistrate Munish Markan.
The judge issued warrants for the accused to be present in the court June 25 – the next hearing of the case.
The accused have been booked for murder, destruction of evidence and forgery.
Police in their voluminous charge sheet said they have recorded statements of 60 witnesses.
A supplementary charge sheet with regard to slapping of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) will be filed at a later stage, the police told the court.
Police said they have strong evidence against the five accused, like the grey WagonR used to carry out the crime and phone records that indicate they were near the murder spot.
The murder weapon has also been recovered but the forensic reports are yet to come, the court was told.
The 27-year-old TV journalist was found dead in the wee hours of Sep 30 last year while she was returning home after work. The motive behind the murder was not known as yet.
