Court ask government for action plan against beggars

New Delhi : The Delhi High Court Monday asked the government to explain why mobile magistrates were not appointed to control the menace of beggars in the city as per the court’s earlier orders.

A Division Bench of Justices B.D. Ahmed and P.K. Bhasin also summoned the deputy commissioner of police (crime) April 6 to inform the court on the action taken against the alleged begging racket.

The court was told that the government has accepted the court orders and was planning to appoint magistrates for this purpose and the proposal is under the lieutenant governor’s consideration.
