Bokaro : A bomb fear at Jharkhand’s Bokaro railway station Wednesday created panic among passengers as people thought an unclaimed cylinder-like object in a train was an explosive, the police said.
When the Baidyanathdham-Hatia Express train reached platform number one at the station some passengers raised an alarm after spotting a suspicious cylinder in the general compartment, B.N Mandel, area railway manager of Bokaro, told reporters.
The train was coming from Baidyanathdham (Deoghar) and going to Hatia. Chaos prevailed when the news of a suspected bomb on the train spread among passengers. People waiting for the train ran helter-skelter, but no one was injured in the incident.
Bokaro Superintendent of Police Laxman Singh soon arrived at the scene with a bomb disposal squad and personnel of the Railway Protection Force, Mandel said. They recovered the cylinder-like object that seemed like a refrigerator compressor, he added.
