Parliament starts debates about next year budget bill

Tehran : The Iranian Parliament started debates on the country’s next year budget bill in its open session Sunday morning.

Parliamentarians are to study the proposed budget bill for the year 2009-2010 in three separate sessions each day.

The government proposed the budget bill to Majlis in one single article with 49 additional attachments.

Member of the Majlis presiding board Hamidreza Haji Babaie said parliamentarians will complete debating the proposed budget bill by the end of the current week and then hold another open session on Saturday to include the suggestions made by the Guardian Council (GC) on the bill.

According to Haji Babaie, Majlis will wait for the final word of the GC experts on the proposed bill which is to be announced on March 14.

He said the parliament wanted to have the 2,827,000-billion-rial proposed bill to be submitted to the cabinet by March 18.
