“Four undertrials escaped from Una’s juvenile observation home this (Thursday) morning by breaking the gate,” Una district police chief N. Venugopal told IANS over phone, adding a case has been registered.

The four are aged between 15 and 17 years and being minors can not be identified by name.

Sambla Devi, the warden of the juvenile home, said the four — of whom one is a Nepali national — were last seen in their room last night.

The home, run by the state government’s social justice and empowerment department, has more than 100 inmates but only a lone female warden to run it.

Inmates of the juvenile home have escaped earlier too.
