New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Member P. Madhu of CPM from Andhra Pradesh has alleged that the state Minorities Commission is sitting on its interim report on the police atrocities on Muslim youths in the wake of bomb blasts in Mecca Masjid, Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat in Hyderabad.

Talking to TwoCircles.net P. Madhu said the commission appointed an advocate to look into the allegations of police excesses on Muslim youth post-terror blasts. The advocate is believed to have completed and submitted the report to the Commission last year. But the commission and state minority welfare ministry have since been sitting on the report and did not submit it to the government.

CPM MP wrote a letter to the state Congress Chief Minister Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy urging him to make the report public. But he did not get any reply from the CM office. He again wrote a letter on March 17 in English language – earlier he wrote in Telugu – demanding the same. He had earlier written to the minority welfare minister to know what has been done for the blasts victims but to no avail.

Madhu told TCN that the immediate families of three minors among others killed in the Mecca Masjid blast are yet to get compensation.

On arresting of innocents post-blasts the MP said: “Many innocent Muslim youths were arrested in connection with the blasts. I myself visited families of those arrested, looked into their cases and found they were all innocents. I held a demonstration to put pressure on the government to release them. After some time, the court acquitted them.”

Lambasting the government for meager compensation to the youths acquitted the MP said: many of them were engineering and medical students. Now their lives have been destroyed. Rather than fully rehabilitate them, the state government gave them Rs 20 to 30 thousand to run auto- rickshaw. “We demanded the government to give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to each acquitted but the government has not yet responded.”

Asked if given the atrocities on them, the minority community is not going to support the ruling Congress, P. Madhu said: the party will not get support and this is evident from the writing on the wall. First time Majlis Ittehadul Muslemeen (MIM), which has blindly supporting the Congress, is going to lose Hyderabad.
Blasting MIM he said: “They are sarkari musalman. They say they were born to protect the interests of the minority community but they have mortgaged them to the state government. It’s the first time they are going to be defeated in Hyderabad.
