A Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) spokesman told IANS Friday that an official appeal has been lodged against the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) decision to shift the July 10-12 tie from Lahore to Manila.

The spokesman said that the ITF has agreed to take PTF’s appeal to both the ITF Davis Cup Committee and ITF Board of Directors. The committees will review the decision to relocate the tie after receiving a ‘fact sheet’ from the Philippines Lawn Tennis Association.

The tie was moved from Lahore to Manila by the ITF earlier this month after the Philippines tennis officials raised security fears about sending their team to Pakistan following a terrorist attack on Sri Lankan cricketers in Lahore March 3.

PTF asked the ITF to reconsider its decision, urging it to shift the tie to a neutral venue like Malaysia or Singapore instead of awarding it to Manila.
